Roby's appearance on Blue Smoke Grill (Food Network) shows that Roby has a lot more to her cooking background than most people realize. Prior to her appearance on Food Network, Roby spent some time as a sommelier, pairing wines and foods. This job allowed her to reclaim her passion for cooking. Roby grew up in a family that owned a barbecue restaurant.

Roby, despite her legal career, decided to start cooking barbecue after she had her first child. Her father's dream of her opening a barbecue restaurant inspired her, so she decided to take up the challenge. Roby attended a celebrity chef Harry Soo's barbecue cooking class in 2018. As a result, she became a certified pitmaster and was soon working in a barbecue restaurant.


She began her passion for barbecue as a hobby, and eventually she became obsessed with it. She began by making dishes on her back deck. Then, she went on to compete in barbecue competitions across the country, cooking alongside world-famous pit masters. She has opened a number of pop-ups in Dayton, Ohio since then. She hopes to eventually open a food truck.

Team Brawl vs. Team Brawl and Team Anne

Food Network BBQ Team Brawl 3 will feature two of the finest chefs from around the globe competing for the ultimate title in grilling. Anne Burrell and Jet Tila will be taking on Bobby Flay, Anne and Team Anne in an unforgettable dinner-party brawl. The new season also features the return of "BBQ Brawl" favorite Matt Roth, who owns the Austin-based Smokin Beauty with his wife Thao.

Ann instructed the contestants on what to prepare, while Jet and Team Bobby let them pick what to make. The result was that Team Bobby lost his ceviche, and Jet dropped some meat. This time Team Anne has an advantage. Anne even jumped down the throat of Team Bobby's contestant while he was reaching for an ingredient.

The new season for BBQ Team Brawl is filled with familiar faces as in all Food Network competitions. Lee Ann Whippen, a 23-year veteran of barbecuing, will be the team's judge. She is also the managing partner of Deviled Pig in Tampa and a judge for the Kansas City Barbecue Society. She has won multiple state and world barbecue championships and has starred on TV shows like BBQ Pitmasters and Throwdown with Bobby Flay.


Flay and Symon were also in a battle for the best barbecue sandwich. Lee Ann used a more traditional approach while Susie tried something new. While her pork belly bam mi was bold and delicious, the judges disagreed. Team Anne's burger had great flavor and was juicy. It came on a sturdy bun.
